Shindisi Screens. Ketuta Alexi-Meskhishvili
Sometimes things seem like they are meant to be and you just go with it. Shindisi screens are the first time I started and finished something in Gerogia.
It feels right to have them be shown in Tbilisi, in ATELIE. As if they were always heading there, how they fit the space, the floor, the windows just right.
I want to thank Daniel, Levan and Zakro for opening me up. Working collaboratively, with natural pigments, with screen printing was all fresh for me.
Levan said the Screens started as negatives and finished as negatives, while containing traces of analog film, digital scanning, silks screening, and natural pigments. I found a surplus of oxygen in working blindly, without an image of the finishing line.
